Ornithologic TripFrom Achaetops to Zosterops
Dry or wet savanna, steppes, sand dunes and gravel plains, salt and fresh water lakes, granite and shale mountains or basalt plateaux; from the Namib desert to the Caprivi Strip, traveling via the Kalahari, Namibia has a wide range of biomes, which together are home to at least 624 bird species. There is only one true endemic amongst all of these, which is the red-backed skylark, but nonetheless the Namib desert is full of surprises for an observant visitor, and your guide will help you find them!
The best time for birding is the southern summer, which is from November to March. This is when most of the migratory visitors are here, and resident birds are breeding; the males are in their breeding finery, which makes them easier to identify and, with millions of tiny beaks to feed, the birds are very active. Time Please note that the rains are unpredictable in this region; some of the more remote parts of Caprivi are no longer accessible if the rains are very heavy. Cost |
